Displaying the number of files in a folder with Mountain Lion?

Question

I recently purchased a new iMac with Mountain Lion and I pretty much hate it. I have been a fan of just about EVERY update, so I am not resistant to change. I just think this is an inferior product. It is slow, clunky, and the update alerts remind me of everything that I hated about PCs. Meh.Anyway, one of the main problems I have with it is that in previous versions, when I opened a folder, there was a little bit of information at the bottom of the folder that told me how many files were in that folder. As a photographer, I use this information ALL THE TIME. I realize I can click on the folder and "get info" to see how many files are in it...but this is extremely inefficient (especially considering how slow the brand new system is -- in spite of the 3.4 Hz processor and 16GB of RAM). I can&#x27;t seem to find anything in the preferences that allows me to change this. If there is a way, I would greatly appreciate it if someone would tell me how! Thank you!

I think that is what you are asking for? However, my main question is how do I change the preferences so that when I open a folder in the finder, it tells me how many files are in that folder? It&#x27;s such a simple thing -- I don&#x27;t really understand why Apple eliminated it. 😟Here&#x27;s a link to a photo of an older Finder window:http://www.ericsantiago.com/.a/6a00d8341c744553ef01543200aa53970c-500wiSee where it says "1 of 30 selected," etc. at the bottom of the window? That information does not appear to be available in Mountain Lion when I open a folder.

Open App Store, download FreeMemory and open it. Inactive memory is about 12 GB
