Safari is acting up after video download from savevid.com. Virus?

I recently downloaded a youtube video via savevid.com. I've been using this site for years with no trouble.

Last night, after downloading a video, I noticed that anytime I opened Safari, after about 5 seconds, the audio from the video that I downloaded plays. AND... anytime I open Safari, instead of going to my homepage (which is my facebook account) it goes back to savevid.com. This happens every time now. Even after trying all of the solutions below, it still does it.

Why is this? What happned?

Attempted Remedies:

  1. I tried reseting the browser and checking all of the boxes.
  2. I emptied the cookies and internet history and cache folders.
  3. I deleted the videos off of my computer and emptied the recycling bin.
  4. I went into the preferences box and tried to manipulate setting.

Any help would be appreciated.

Doubtful it's a virus...

Try troubleshooting extensions and plugins...

Go to Safari > Preferences > Extensions. Turn that off if there are any installed, then quit and relaunch Safari to test.

If that didn't help, back to the Preferences pane, select the Security tab. Deselect: Enable plug ins

Quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that made a difference then try troubleshooting third party add ons. Instructions here.
