PCMCIA slot

Does the new MacBook Pro has a PCMCIA slot? Or external memory slot (eg SD cards)?

PCIMCA is replaced by the express card. That is the way ahead and manufacturers are slowly rolling products out. There is no external memory slot either.

If your need is immediate, then your best bet is to get a USB-connected card reader. I have a multi-format adaptor made by SIIG and it works fine. If I recall correctly, it was on the order of $20 US. Probably ExpressCard devices are going to cost more than that when they do become available, at least at first.

I am not in a hurry since I actually own a 17" PowerBook with a PCMCIA card reader, which I use in a daily basis to transfer Excel files and JPEG files from SD cards and Memory Stick cards. My card is always inserted in my laptop and I don't need to worry about USB cables or readers. I am looking for something similar for my future 17" Macbook Pro.

And I need my EVDO Verizon card.
No Intel Mac for me until EVDO becomes available from an Express card.

Converts standard PCMCIA card to Express Card.

Other than that from one I understand wireless providers are going to be among some of the first to roll out Express Card offerings.

mia culpa on the first link as that converts to the 54 express card not the 34.

This company is also working on 3 adapters, one being the 34 format..

There are also a number of 34 6-in-1, 8-in1, 10-in-1 etc. memory card readers available for the Express Card 34 format.

Umm..okay...little confused on the reply to as I never claimed that would work.

I retracted my statement via the mia culpa that one I did post a link to would work. It will not as it is a 54.

This one will also not work for the very same reason.
