I am editing an FCE file, wanting to replace the audio but can't

Hi everyone, I'm a bit new to FCE so maybe this is noob question but I have a video file I created using slide images (JPGs) and then did a voice over in Audacity and layed it in. It worked beautifully ... until I found a need to revise the audio voice over. I cut a new voice over in Audacity and when I went to repalce the old audio with the new audio I got an error message, "insufficient content for edit". I don't see anyone else with this issue so I'm probably doing something wrong. Can you point the way for me?

The in and out point duration you have marked on the timeline is greater than the duration of the source material that you are trying to place there.

In other words, for example, you are trying to replace a 5 second clip of audio with a 4 second one.

Remove the out point on the timeline, then edit the new material to the timeline. There will be some residual audio from the original clip left on the timeline. Click on it to select the residual (unwanted) portion, and press the delete key.
