belkin router usb printer not working

I just recently bought a Belkin Share Max N300 and installed a Open Source Firmware DD-WRT on it. Everything works fine. I can print from Windows XP, but after I bought a MAC running OSX, I couldn't print from USB port of Belkin. Anyone had the same problem? I was running the latest software from Belkin for MAC.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4), Belkin has USB port

There are a number of vendor printer drivers that do not work when the printer is connected to the USB port of a third party print server or router. For these types of connections you have to use alternate drivers like those provided by Gutenprint or PrintFab or OpenPrinting.org. If you can tell us which brand and model of printer you have, we can suggest which driver to use.

The 10.5 Mac could be using the Gutenprint driver, which was included with this OS and works fine for a printer connected to the USB port of a router. And Windows drivers usually don't have the same limitation as the Mac drivers, so no suprises that your Win8 PC is okay.

So for the 10.7 Mac, you could try downloading and installing the Gutenprint driver. But before you do install, you may want to check the included Supported Printers document to ensure the printer you have is supported. If it is supported, then you can add the printer and select the Gutenprint driver for the model of printer you have.
