5th Generation Nano not recognized by iTunes

My iPod is no longer recognised in iTunes although my PC does recognise it. I haven't had this problem before. "Help' was not helpful. I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it, changed USB ports to my iPod but although it knows there is an Ipod plugged in it doen't recognise it. can you help please?.

Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?

What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?

How to reset iPod

Has this iPod ever worked on this PC or is this the first time you have time you have tried connecting it?

Have you carefully worked through each and every single suggestion in this Apple support document then?

iPod not recognized in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows

Thank you for your reply. have had my ipod and Itunes for a few years. I have again uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled but it says "the installer encouted errors before Itunes could be configured. Your system has not been modified. Run installer again ." I did this 3 more times - same message. so at the moment I am worse off than before. At least I did have all my music on Itunes on my Pc and on my iPod. I just couldn't sync it. First time ever. Now I've lost all my music on !Tunes - so frustrating.

Any ideas what to do now please?

If you have tried all the mentioned suggestions from the Article, it's time to take your iPod Nano to your local Apple Store or an AASP. Let them examine as they have the proper diagnostic tools to do so.

I am getting very frustrated with this! I tokk my IPod to the shop where I bought it a couple of years ago. The guy pugged it in to one of the compueters there and it worked perfectly! At home the ITunes still doesn't recognise my iPod although it says there is an Ipod attached to my computer but ITunes doesn't recognise it. I hav gain uninstalled ITubnes then reinstalled after closing the PC down - same story. I have followed all the insructions in ht eHelp area so now i will just have to use the Itunes on my PC for any new music I buy and burn CDs to use eslewhere which is a (like the car). Maybe it is something in the new PC that isn't aligned properly? I have been to services and it is all as it should be for apple devices so I'm mystified as to what I should do know

😕

Thanks for keeping in touch. I have been trying everything suggested but I think the problem is that the "Apple Mobile Deives support" isn't on the PC. To rectify I have followed all the instructions. Still no AMDS so I am going to speak to the store where i bought my PC and hopefully they will have a solution. I may have to have windows 7 reinstalled??.

Thanks again for all your efforts to help me. Much appreciated.
