can I use iPhone5 as hotspot for iPad2

I have a plain iPad 2 with just wi-fi capability and am considering getting the iPhone 5. The determining factor is can I tether the iPad 2 to the iPhone 5 so that I can use the internet, etc. when I am out of contact with wi-fi? Thanks for the help here. Dan.

Not the way I read the link. The link refers to the case where the iPad 3 is the hot spot device, NOT the tethered device. What it says is that everything from the 3GS onwards for the phones and the iPad 3 onwards (as long as it has a mobile data capability like 3G) can be used as a hotspot device. It does not say that the iPad2 can not be a tethered device to the iPhone 5 acting as a hotspot. My understanding is that it is possible to do what the OP wishes, since the tethering is not a function of the receiving (tethered) device which just sees a wifi signal, but the capability of the hotspot device, in this case the iPhone 5 which definitely can be a Hospot device. The OP should remember that tethering is only possible by the agreement of your data provider.
