Oct 6, 2012 5:44 PM in response to Nato101by InnerDivinity,I think if we nail down the specific scenarios, we may be able to help figure out what is happening. Two instances for me are 1. Just scrolling up and down on a website. 2. Flipping through photos in an event. It seems to be to be something related to the swipe motion gesture crashing all touch input.

Oct 6, 2012 6:23 PM in response to Nato101by Nato101,★HelpfulIt just seems to be the swipe motion gesture in general for me, so would be a software problem. Just now I can't swipe between my pages of apps. I locked my phone and then tried to swipe to unlock but also frozen here. Was playing a game before and was frozen there when I tried to tap the screen and nothing would happen. It's starting to happen more frequently, so might have to take it to the genius bar, sigh.

Oct 8, 2012 3:29 AM in response to InnerDivinityby InnerDivinity,Okay, so a restore with no further syncing, i.e. vanilla restore+set up as new, and a little web browsing was enough to reproduce the behavior. This pretty much guarantees that it's a hardware problem. Apple support tech is going to call me tomorrow to hear this report and set up my replacement appointment.

Oct 17, 2012 6:08 AM in response to Nato101by Nato101,I looked through the Apple website to see what I could do to fix the problem and it said to restore the phone. I did this a few days ago and it seems to be ok now with only a few instances of freezing, but much better than what it was before.

Oct 17, 2012 7:06 AM in response to lexcopby InnerDivinity,I read on another website that it's the firmware. If your genius knows his ****, he will do a firmware restore which you can do at home (google "DFU"). Anyway, my suggestion is just go in, show him, and then get a new one. They have a completely separate stock for replacement phones (also brand-new).

Oct 18, 2012 11:08 AM in response to Nato101by borowskypaul, has anyone figured out how to fix this yet or take the phone back?
-
Oct 18, 2012 1:33 PM in response to borowskypaulby lexcop,Hi,
It is now six days ago when I had this problem. After a reset (restore) through iTunes iot has not occurde again.
So apparently it is a software (firmware?) problem. I cannot imagine this being a hardware problem. It is a pity though; this is my third iPhone and my first problem with it.

Oct 18, 2012 7:38 PM in response to Nato101by Erika Spencer Brose,Mine freezes almost every time during something involving a phone call. It has frozen during the call on occasion but more often than not it is when a call is dropped and i want to end the call and redial. The phone says call is ending but every button is grayed out and nothing responds. I have to force it off and restart.
