Photos attatched to contacts within the phone will be larger. Those attatched contacts in a computer or cloud app and synced to the phone are thumbnail size.

thanks for replying mod747. let me ask you this and please excuse my ignorance concerning ios for I have been a android user for awhile. How do you use a person's facebook profile photo as the caller id (but larger)? With android, that's what was used and filled the screen. That way when phone contacts and facebook friends were synced, you got the big pic. If Apple does not do that, then you have to load a picture of everyone who's on your contact list? Seems more of a pain, than simplicity.
