Everytime that I try to back up my iphone to icloud there is a message that appears that reads "This iPhone cannot be backed up because there is not enough iCloud storage available." So my phone has never been backed up, any suggestions?

If it says that there is not enough storage in icloud that means you have over 5gb on your phone, you can either purchase additional storage in icloud or back it up to your itunes .
You can see what you're backing up from Settings --> iCloud and get an even more detailed list by further going to Settings --> iCloud --> Storage & Backup --> Manage Storage. That screen will list all of the devices you're currently backing up to iCloud, and you can select one to see more detail for that device, select whichever apps you want to backup, and delete the backup if necessary.
Use a computer running iTunes for your backup instead of iCloud.
But when I do sync/backup on my computer there is not more than 5 gb. I only have about 100 pictures and NO MUSIC at all. I have gone through and deleted tons of text messages. I have virtually no email; but when I take new pictures, it does save them through photo stream to my ipad so I don't know why it keeps telling me I haven't backed it up in months. It also tells me through itunes on my computer that is has been backed up but the error message on my phone keeps telling me I haven't backed it up in months.
The settings for icloud says that there are 2.5 of the 5.0 Gb available!!!
Sounds like it is telling you that you havent backed up to icloud, not itunes, Go to settings, icloud, storage and backup, scroll down to where it says backup now, when does it say your last backup was?
It says it cannot be backed up because there is not enough iCloud storage available the last iCloud backup was in July 26 when I started getting this message everyday. It says I have 2.5 gb if my 5 gb available right on that same iCloud screen
Yes Mathmom815...I am having same problem! I noticed all Posts on the Apple Community regarding this issue just "STOP" when we respond that we have adjusted all settings and that there is enough storage available.
One different Post I read mentioned "Mail & Texts" also take up space....and I noticed my mail app is downloading OLD mail, and it sometimes says I have hundreds of email...then sometimes it says I have only a few. I have adjusted my mail settings and are now downloading NO email. Is there a glitch with the 4s that stores excessive email? Is this "glitch" holding up storage space? IF so, where on the phone does it tell you how much space the Mail & Texts are using?
