Q: export mp4 movie from Mac OSX 10.7 in itunes to iphone 4s ios6

I need help figuring out how to get a video on my MAC OSX10.7 transfered to my iphone. All references support moving from phone to computer. I want to go the other way--FROM COMPUTER to iphone. How is that done?

Add the movie to your iTunes library and sync it.

iTunes: May be unable to transfer videos to iPhone, iPad, or iPod - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1497 - incompatible format for devices.
