Can someone please help me, I think it's the hardware because when I quit the game the iPad wouldn't rotate to portrait. I tried restarting it but it doesn't, also tried turning it on and off and that didn't work either so I think it's a hardware defect

Is there a lock symbol at the top of the screen next to the battery indicator ? If there is, then depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (rotation lock or mute notifications), then you can lock/unlock the rotation by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad above the volume switch, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. I tried that already I think it's my gyroscope because it won't rotate and there is no symbol on the top right corner, also when I use the side switch there is no symbol that pops up either. Also wont rotate to landscape when I try I might have to bring it to a apple retail store and tell them because I've tried everything it seems like
You said that you've tried restarting and switching it off and on, by that do you mean a reset i.e. pressing and holding both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignoring the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear (you won't lose any content it's effectively a reboot).
I tried that already before I posted this it didn't work
Then probably is a case of contacting Apple
my iPad wont rotate to landscape also in games I can't rotate to steer like in real racing 2 hd, the gyroscope doesn't work also the side switch doesn't work on my iPad so it can go silent
