Not all birthdays from Outlook are syncing with iPhone 4S, why?

I have many recurring birthdays on my Outlook calendar. Some of them are synced to my phone and show up on the calendar, but not all of them. I have all of the calendar categories checked, including Birthdays under the settings section. Why are some showing and not others? How can I see ALL of the birthdays from my Outlook calendar on my phone?
