Boot Camp - XP Second Monitor Screen Distortion/Tearing
While booted into XP on the machine in my sig., The spanned 19" LCD I have works great, but once in a while (maybe once an hours or so) I see tearing of the displayed image. It is a momentary problem that almost seems like a resolution or refresh rate issue, but I have tried all settings and I even tried the latest Omega video driver for Radeon and nothing works. The tearing goes away as fast as it came. The entire event lasts maybe 1 second, but it's just long enough to catch my attention. This problem does not happen in OSX. Does anyone else with a second monitor attached notice this in Boot Camp under XP?
The simple answer: It's beta, what do you expect? 🙂
The complex answer: Does your LCD use DVI or VGA? I connect a VGA monitor to mine, and it works just fine, no tearing or other glitches. (My external CRT makes a very audible 'click - twaaaaang' when it changes resolutions, so I would notice if there were any random resolution switches going on.)
As a follow-up to my own thread, I resolved this issue by using a DVI to DVI cable input into my external LCD. I had to bypass the KVM switch to do it, but I found a work around using the LCD's source switch. At this point I'd have to assume that the issue is between the Boot Camp video drivers and the MBP video hardware using external VGA only.
