Lightning cable USB connector not charging
My lightning cable shows up as accessory not charging in my vehicle.
Old cable worked just fine. Anyone else experiencing same problem?
Possible causes?
iPhone 5, iOS 6

Having the same issue. The lightning cable is not charging my phone when connected to my car USB port, through the cigarette lighter (via a USB adapter), my laptop USB port, or the wall wart power outlet. I can get it to charge by fiddling with the cable but then it stops after a few minutes.
I'm going to the closest mall with an Apple store to have this checked out.
Have the same issue with any outlet. All of my lightning cables work for charging one way, but they're not reversable as they should be.
Not to mention I can't play music in my car stereo over USB anymore (was able to until a few nights ago).
Out of nowhere, it stopped working, and I really wish Apple would post a solution.
Best bet? Go into an Apple store, demonstrate the issue, and demand a replacement cable or possibly a replacement phone. Chances are, it's a software fix, but who knows when we'd see it.
I went to the Genius Bar and the person there gave me a replacement cord. He said the cord was the problem. Now my beautiful iPhone 5 charges and connects perfectly with the new cord! 🙂
Problem seems to be in car through vehicles USB port. Worked well with iPhone4, why not with 5?
Same car, same USB port. Different phone and cable.
I have a hard time believing that my two lightning cables, and my brand new lightning to 30 pin cable are all disfunctional.
Especially since my two cables worked perfectly up until yesterday, and my adapter didn't work properly out of the box, only after the other two started failing.
The pins on a lightning cable are assigned by the firmware of the phone. I think that's the real issue. A new cable may help temporarily, but won't work for everyone in the long run.
If it suddenly stops working with your car stereo, try to power cycle the phone. I find it helps. It doesn't happen too often.
Genius Bar suggested restoring phone. Seems to have worked so far.. We'll see.
I'm having the same isse, it just stopped working for any means of charging. Now the phone is at 0%, and I'm knackered on how to charge the damm thing. Being a while away from the nearest apple store doesn't help either.
Only happening in car when attached to USB connector. Tried 3 different cables. Car USB worked fine with iPhone 4. Now works sporadically with 5. Same car, why would new cable not work?
It's the phone. Going to Apple
Apple replaced the phone. Working great now.
