iphoto deleted, need to restore it

I have a Macbook Air, OS 10.6.8 and could not open iPhoto. I followed online instructions to trash library prefs, rebuilt file but still no go. My backup USB would not reload iLife citing "technical problems" twice. So i trashed iPhoto application and need to restore it. Not sure why the emergency reboot USB with iLife '11 does not work. any suggestions.
