It's more a comment than a question but the icon for the calendar always displays the correct date, the icon for messages displays the number of new messages. So why is it that the icon for the clock doesn't display the correct time ? I suppose updating the icon every second would be too much but it should be possible to do that every minute ?

The same reason the Weather app displays Sun and 73 degrees. Updating the information all that time would affect battery life, so Apple's decision was to leave it. The calendar app only has to update once every 24 hours, and the small icon for Messages and Mail only occurs when you receive something.
I get about 2 messages a minute so that would not be a big change in terms of battery life but well... I guess it was the subject of an obscure meeting at Apple.

I read something about it in the last couple of days. Someone else asked the question regarding the Weather app, and it did have to do with something at Apple, and battery life. Take care, and you're welcome.
