Oct 7, 2012 8:28 PM in response to SoCalGreenManby Kayob,Mate, I've spent ages looking for something easy or something obvious in the iClouds web interface but, as you noticed, nothing is where it supposed to be.
No worries! :-
Gladly I've found this (official) manager for the iCloud Account and guess what. it does have the option to downgrade the storage to Free 5Gb or to upgrade your storage limit.
Enjoy your time!http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1455
But if you'r using Mac you already have it on your computer. Check this out: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/mac.html

Oct 9, 2012 1:10 AM in response to SoCalGreenManby funtmaster,I had the same problem. I had to choose a paid plan first, complete the billing and then choose the free storage. It looks as if I am now on the free 5Gb plan when this plan ends....

Oct 9, 2012 1:36 AM in response to funtmasterby Roger Wilmut1,You didn't need to do anything. People on the free extended storage as a result of migrating from MobileMe will continue to have it until 30 September 2013 at which point the account will downgrade to 5GB. If you want to retain the extra storage you need to cancel the downgrade: you will then be charged on 1 October 2013.

I understand that is what is supposed to happen. We were also supposed tho be downgraded THIS Oct. first as well. All I am asking is how do I downgrade NOW. BEFORE the next 'glitch' charges me the $40.00 that I am not permitted to downgrade out of NOW.

Oct 9, 2012 4:49 AM in response to SoCalGreenManby Roger Wilmut1,You will not be charged anything without your agreement. The free extension will run until September 30 2013 and at that point the account will automatically be downgraded to 5GB unless you take specific steps to continue and pay for the extra storage.

Ok I will post this one last time;
Why can't I downgrade NOW? I will NEVER use the unwanted 20 gb. I do NOT want it. The downgrade was supposed to happen THIS October first, NOW it's NEXT October first. The 2050 glitch happened in the interim. What will the next glitch be? Will we all be charged the bleeping $40.00 and then have to somehow prove that we didn't want the 20 gb that we are forced to have in our accounts now?
I DON'T want it.
I DON'T need it.
I WON'T use it.
Why CAN'T I opt out NOW?
Now NOT a year from now, or when some other glitch puts us all in another box we have to wait for a big corporation to let us out of.
I want my .mac email I DON'T WANT THE $40.00 extra 20 gb.
How do I opt out NOW, this year?

Oct 9, 2012 8:33 AM in response to SoCalGreenManby Kayob,Wake up in the morning, sit in front of a PC and downgrade using the iCloud Manager for windows.
Then you can go back to your Beautiful Little World of Apple.
either way you can use iCloud manager already installed in one/all of those devices that you mention you've harvested from the Apple tree.

Oct 29, 2012 11:48 AM in response to SoCalGreenManby tomsjoberg,Same thing happened to me and Apple charged me the money? Did you find an answer? I also filed a complaint with my bank as Apple has made this too difficult to manage.

Dec 7, 2013 8:51 PM in response to tomsjobergby donaldfromoak hill,I just let it go and got the 5 GB free plan eventually and never paid a cent. I feel the entire iCloud situation is too complicated and it would be nice if Apple would rethink the entire user interface with the iCloud. Probably won't happen.

Exactly. That's what I told people would happen but if people won't listen to what they're told what can you do? But you have a point about the documentation - it is all there but it's not as clearly laid out as it might be. This is true of a lot of Apple's documentation - the information is there and is almost always perfectly accurate, but it's not always obvious how to find it.
