Is there a way to block a remote connection? It seems that a former employer is connecting with me remotely and it corrupts the software on my devices but I don't know how to stop it other than waiting for investigations to complete - not to mention that it interferes with the day to day.

    Did you install software on your Mac that allows your previous employer to connect to your Mac?


    Check your System Preferences -> Sharing settings to see if you have enabled Remote Management.


    Check your System Preferences -> Users & Groups -> Login Items to see if there is something that would allow your old company to connect to your system.


    Do you have contact information for your previous company's IT group?  Can you ask them to remove your computer from their maintenance lists.

    No, I didnt download any software, at least not to my knowledge, however apps keep showing up on my computer which is a Mac (I worked off a PC when I was employed by their company). At this point I've had several computers since I left their company bc that software corrupts the system.


    I also checked my system settings, and while I have all security in place it somehow still happens. Apple store techs have helped me set it up (they confirmed it on a couple occassions when they looked at my computer).


    It is most prevalent in my apt (or so I think) and I'm guessing it has something to do w/the Fios Router. While I've switched it several times and changed the password, they did have all info to my Fios connection when I worked with them. Additionally, the router has a bridge connection that i connect to, and I'm not sure if that is a new standard with all Fios routers (it wasnt with the old router), but I cant seem to get anyone at Fios to help me with that question. My blackberry seems to have a way of connecting to the router and the hot spot setting is off. Obviously, I will need to change my service from Fios as soon as I can.
