I have a 2011 macbook air purchased in August last year. I have only used the device quite lightly. The power supply shows significant "strain relief" next to the L shaped connector the rubberised sheith has stripped back for 2-3 cm exposing the inner wires. I went into the Amsterdam Apple Store and asked what I should do was told this is completely normal behaviour for these cables and if I was really concerned I should buy a new power supply. I want to make it clear that I was not told to stop using the power supply or that there. It was quite obvious to me that this is a safety hazard and I bought a new one rather than risk causing harm to me or someone else.  My question is as follows, really is this normal wear and tear for the power supply to exhibit strain relief after 12 months and is it really safe as the apple employee seemed to suggest.

MacBook Air, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
