Unable to update to 10.8.2

I have a new, 15" MBP , 2.6 Ghz i7 , 8 GB running os x 10.8 . I tried to update to 10.8.1 (10.8.2) but it doesn't work. The update does not show in AppStore, and i was unable to update from the "os x update combo 10.8.2 . It says " OS X Update Combined can't be installed on this disk. This update requires OS X version 10.8.2 or earlier. " . What can I do ?

Hi there

I have bought a new macbook pro last week that came with 10.8.1 and I have exactly the same problem:

- iPhoto needs OSX 10.8.2 to update itself

- No software update in my appstore account

- Downloaded several times 10.8.2 update ("normal" and combo)

And when I start installing it says it is not possible to install the update in any volume.

I phoned Apple Support (twice) and tried everything they told me:

- Cleaned the system cache

- Downloaded again

- Created another administrator user account

- Reinstall the entire OS

And now tried the partitioning of the disk as Shootist007suggested

But without any success.

Any more suggestions?

I have exactly the same problem.

Bought a Macbook Pro 13", successfully updated to 10.8.2, but there was dead pixel on my screen, so i returned it. Apple sent me a replacement, couldnt install 10.8.2, called apple tech line, tried everyway they told me, till they asked me to ask for another replacement. Now, I'm having a go at the 3rd macbook...

No luck in updating to 10.8.2 !! What's happening??

I contacted Apple by phone and this guy gave me the following explanation:

Macbook Pro Retina 13.3" and iMac 21.5" were released after the 10.8.2 update and thus no drivers were included for these new hardware releases. The first users that updated their new systems with the previous update complainted about problems with keychain. This is why they replaced with a new update that won't appear as updateable in these models, and if you download it the disk won't be valid for installation. Soon there will be a new update available that will correct these issues.

Would it be so hard fo Apple to post this info somewere???
