Email text size suddenly very small, uncontrolled font change

on my iOS I tap & hold any icon to get them all wiggling and I have an "X" in the corner rather than a "-" sign. When I tap the X it tells me I'll lose all the data & settings on my device! Yikes!

I have about 10 different email accounts and the important ones on my iPhone so I'm a little nervous about this....

Try quitting Mail.

Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the Mail app until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it works normally.

Thanks Ralph! I was having the exact same problem and it was driving me mad!!! I didn't even realise you could delete the most recent used apps from the bottom of the homescreen, so thats another fact I've learned! Cheers mate.

I had the same problem. I tried to follow your instructions. I didn't see the minus sign on my Mail. It did wiggle but did not show the minus sign. I couldn't tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. What should I do next?

Which iOS version is your iPhone running?

I am not sure. How do I know which version on my iPhone 5?

Settings > General > About > Version.

it says 7.1.1 (11 D201)

There is no minus sign with iOS 7 to quit an app.

Double press/click the home button to bring up the recently used app.

Select the mail window above the Mail app icon and slide up to quit the app.
