Mail not using the correct account to reply to email

I use Gmail to fetch email from my other email accounts. Prior to Mountain Lion, whenever I replied to an email, Mail would use the correct email account to reply to. That is to say, Gmail was fetching email from abc@mail.com, for example. When I click reply, the default account would be mail.com. But since upgrading to Mountain Lion, the default account will be Gmail.com.

Has anyone experienced this? How were you able to solve this, if at all?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Yes also this I have done, every E-mail has its own SMTP, and I have selected use only this server.

I have noted another thing, when the E-mail are coming in the arrival post, and I click to reply, the system use the right e-mail, when with the rules the e-mail are placed in special folders, than when I reply the Mail use the first setting account. Can you tell me why ?

Thank you

The issue is when I reply to an email received -- email sent to my business email account, I reply and Mail defaults to responding with my .mac email account and not my business mail account (as it did before Mail 6.2).

Each time, I have to go to the drop-down, select my business email account and reply.

Mail should automatically reply using the email account that was address and that is the default in prefereances.

It happen the same to me and only after the upgrade to OS X 10.8.2 (12C60). Nobody can help me and I have been in one Apple shop, and they replied me that the problem is from the SMTP, that the mantatiner didn't upgrade it. Of cosurse I wrote them, I use Register, and they told me that the problem is not for sure from them. Someone in the shop suggested me to wait for the new upgrade ..................

Yup, I have the same problem. Using several mail accounts in Apple Mail, the app used to "reply" to the account the original mail was received. With the current version (Mail 6.2, with Mountain Lion 10.8.2) it replies from different accounts; I always have to make sure it uses the "right" account before hitting send (and of course I forget quite often…)

The new rule seems to be if you move an email message received on account A to a folder belonging to account B, that means the message now "belongs to" account B, and replies will come from account B. The new rule is murkier if you move a message from account A to an "On My Mac" folder and then reply to it.

I'm not saying that I like it that way, or that Apple has documented the change, just that this "new rule" seems to explain many of the "wrong reply" and "copying myself" complaints we see here on the forums. If we (users) can figure out the second half of the "new rule" ("On My Mac" folders), we might be able to explain the rest, we might be able to predict how replies will work, and we might be able to write a cogent complaint about the "new rule."

I agree with you about the rules problem, but I have a folder where I use to receive the e-mail form mi account A, but if I reply to an email received in that folder, still the account of reply is B, and this happen for all the folders I have in my MAIL. We have understood the problem, but I'm still thinking that there is a bug in the program with the new system. I hope that someone from apple will read about these problems and with the new release will cancel it.

Is this folder on the IMAP server for account A, on an IMAP server for account B, or "On My Mac"? Under the "new rules," the first two should generate replies from account A or B respectively.

Both of the account are IMAP, the folders are on MY MAC. I have a foulder where I use to receive e-mail to my account A, but whan I reply them the system use always account B, that in my opinion is the first one in the accout list. I have another account, also IMAP, called C, I have the same problem, I have a folder where I receive always e-mail to the account C, but when I reply the system use account B.
