Random Shut Down

My 20" iMac G5 with iSight won't turn on past the grey screen with white Apple emblem. I will get to that screen and then shut back down. After it shuts down it wont let me turn it back on. So I leave it unplugged for about 20 min. and then plug it back in and the cycle repeats. It wont pass this screen. HELP!
