Why didn't I receive an Amber Alert?

A little known update in iOS 6 is amber alerts and other emergency alerts. An amber alert was posted in my area but I did not receive an alert. I have the alerts on and notifications on. Is there something else I need to check or have people been missing alerts? This is a big issue in my opinion.

Nobody should be forced to have stuff on their phones they don't want. Especially buggy stuff.

In the end it becomes a matter of how much personal freedom you are willing to cede to the government. And in this day of Snowden revelations how do you know it's one way?

Because infowars is a reputable news source now? That's funny. Verizon did do some single tower tests which weren't coordinated, but panic was not caused as the story tries to show. Also, the one in Milwaukee was sent as part of a test. Though the word test wasn't in it, sirens were also going off for the statewide tornado drill, so it shouldn't have surprised people. The person who sent that warning no longer works there...

You aren't being forced to get anything on your phone except alerts that most people would want to know about. Oh please with the Snowden stuff... It is a one-way communication. I've seen the installs.

If you have a cell phone, regardless if it's a smartphone or dumbphone, the government is already receiving boatloads of location tracking and metadata from the carriers themselves.

If your using a computer online, they are also grabbing that.

In fact just turning on a Mac broadcasts a Bonjour signal in the immediate area with your personal information. "Joe Smiths Computer".

So it's already too late to bother if Amber Alerts is a government intrusion or not, just using any technological device already is.

Cellphones, OnStar, TomTom's, most computers, ISP's, Wifi routers, iPads, Google, websites etc., all busy providing information to unwanted persons you don't know.

And with many devices have sold state drives, like iPods, iPhones, iPads and new Mac's, the NSA method to data destruction is to grind them into a fine powder to remove sensitive data.

Or else a device like this can read even the DELETED data off a SSD, by passing the password + encryption as device makers give them the keys.

The game is already over, the game has been rigged from the start and it's just geting more worse by the minute.

They have been watching you, tracking you and likely already have a detailed profile on you already collected and to be used at a moments notice.

Many marketing companies already have, it's where the government buys a lot of information to complete it's dossier on everyone.

"Nothing to hide" might be your excuse, but that doesn't rule out they might want to do something to you and it only will get worse the more evil the person is at the higher food chain.

A terrible survelliance machine is being created for the intention of good, but it can easily be turned for evil once those in power get some idea in their head that they can force something onto the people that they don't want or deserve.

Late breaking news: It isn't just phones and computers that are tracked. It is reported today that the US Postal Service also keeps metadata - an image of the front and back of every piece of mail that passes through the system. And some mail is opened and inspected. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/07/04/us/monitoring-of-snail-mail.html?_r=0

You can turn off the settings by going to Settings/Notification Center/Amber Alerts(or Emergency alerts) if you choose.

Regarding people getting angry, do not blame them for geting angry at your words. Just like poeple have the right to remain silent, they also have the right to express their feelings. If you ask me I think Amber alerts are great. Just imagine if you had a son or a daughter and gets kidnapped. Wouldn't you want people in the world to be listening? Wouldn't you want to trust everyone is willing to look for your kid? That is the reason why I keep it on. Privacy is just an excuse, in my opinion, for people to justify not knowing and not making a positive impact on people's lives.

Well, there is your information and you are free to do as you may and believe whatever you want to believe.

Why didn't I receive an Amber Alert?
