Bar of Pie Chart and Age Population Chart ?

Hi,

I've got the last version of numbers and I'am asked for an assignement to do a Bar of Pie Chart and an Age Population Chart.

I tried everything and searched on the internet but couldn't manage to find what I'm looking for.

Could anyone explain how to do those ?

Thanks

Vic,

For directions, download the free Numbers User Guide from the Help menu.

Read Chapter 7.

The short story is:

Insert a Table with 1 Header Row and One Header Column.

Put your Category titles in column A and your values in Column B.

Select Columns A and B and Insert > Chart > (Bar or Pie).

Jerry

Jerry,

I looked everywhere, searched for a long time, and coudln't find "Bar of Pie", neither in Numbers itself, nor in the User Guide.

To be more precise, here's what I'm trying to do : I've got nice datas and a good looking pie chart, but some of the datas are way too small so we can't really see them on the pie. So I'm trying to do something like this :

Hi Vic,

So "Bar of Pie" wasn't a typo! Looks like Jerry (and I) had a different interpretation of what you were trying to do.

What you have there is two separate charts, using two separate (but related) sets of Data.

The Pie chart uses the data listed on the table to the left below—individual numbers for the pets whose count is three or greater, and a grouped count for the others.

The Stacked Bar chart uses a separate data set, listed on the second table—the individual counts for those pets represented fewer than three times each.

Here's a variation.

Charts are using the default colours as assigned by Numbers.

See the Numbers '09 User Guide for details on reformatting the charts.

In response to Barry's post...

I am trying to create the types of graphs that you have got in your example. However, I can't get the stacked bar to look like that. I've looked through the user guide, but I think I must be missing something. How do I get the stacked bar to look like the second one you have got in your examples? When I try to create it I just end up with a bar chart!

Thank you

Hi fg,

My guess is that you need to click on the small square to the left of "Others" in my example, showing three bars. The click will toggle the orientation of the bars between vertical and horizontal. The bars indicate whether data in columns (vertical) or rows (horizontal) are to be considered as separate series.
