WiFi is SLOW after iOS 6 Update

After updating to this OS, I started noticing my WiFi slowed waaay down. When using speedtest.net, I'm getting 20+ Mb/s but everything on WiFi is slow to load. This is especially true with the YouTube app. This apps is practically useless with how slow it loads. After noticing that almost all of my apps were slowing down, I've concluded that it was the OS that is the culprit. Are there any fixes for this?

I have to provide my anecdotal evidence to WiFi and iOS6. After I upgraded my iPhone 4S, I have noticed that my WiFi performance has been degraded. Probably not so much with speed as with connectivity. It is slower to connect/recognize my WiFi and doesn't seem to have the range of connectivity that it did with iOS 5. It will also drop my WiFi signal and it never did that with iOS5. I also don't get options pop up to connect to WiFi when I am out.

My wife upgraded her iPad 2 to iOS6 and since our Facetime sessions have more "non-video" time than before.

My son with an iPod Touch (version 4) has also noted similar "degraded" issues.

The iOS upgrade is the only variable that has changed.

Whatever algorithim that Apple changed WRT WiFi from iOS 5 to iOS 6, I wish they would change back.

I am having the same slow, bad wifi connection issues on my iPhone 4S using iOS 6.

I went to an Apple store to ask if I could downgrade to the previous iOS, knowing they would say, "No," but wanting to go on record that they have delivered a problematic operating system.

I am extremely disappointed and frustrated every day by this iOS.

For every one of us who goes into this forum to report problems, there are doesn't of people who don't know how to do that and are just suffering with iOS 6.

Apple - are you listening? WiFi must be fixed ASAP. Thanks.

Hey guys.

I have a few fixes for wi-fi.

A couple of things to try are reset network settings. You can do this by tapping in to settings>general>reset>reset network settings.

This WILL remove any wi-fi passwords you have saved on the device, but you can re-enter it, by tapping in to settings and then wi-fi and tapping on the name of your network.

If reset network settings does not work try resetting ALL settings. So that can be found in settings>general>reset>reset all settings.

If the wi-fi is still running slowly, the next step would be a restore of the device. Back up and restore.

I have an article that you can follow: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398

I really hope that these suggestions work for you. I know it can suck not have good wi-fi. 😟

Oh and also try changing the DNS to 8.8.8.8. That isn't in the article, but it can work like a charm sometimes.

You can do that but tapping in to settings>wi-fi. Where you see the name of your network, tap on the blue arrow. It will take you to your wi-fi settings and you should see DNS. Tap on where the DNS numbers are and change it to 8.8.8.8.

Nevermind the wifi being slow. I am getting a problem with the connection dropping all the time on my Virgin Media supplied wifi router now that I have upgraded to iOS6 on my iPhone 4. I have also tested this on a different Virgin Media supplied router at my friends and it does the same!

Plus, the battery life on my other iPhone 4 seems to be affected too, I tested it last night, 40% life when I went to bed, wake up 8 hours later, it's on 15%. I made sure I had no apps running when I went to bed. What is going on?!
