Question

Magic mouse just stopped working.

Hello!

My magic mouse decided to stop working properly for no apparent reason. I have never dropped it to the floor, it have brand new batteries and i have cleaned the surface. Now to what's not working, the smart zoom, the two finger swipe, when you tap with two fingers and the right click. The thing is when you turn it off and then on, it works just fine for like 2 min to just stop working properly again. So is there any way to fix this problem, or can i get a new one, or do i have to buy a new one?

Try resetting the PRAM and SMC.

i have me too same problem after update to 10.8.2

any idea how to fix this or waiting new update?

Hey Barry (or others)-- How do you reset SMC?

I tried a fix two weeks ago (I believe it was yours to me, Barry) that helped in short run. Resetting the PRAM. I even repaired disk permissions twice since then, also, when problem reoccurred. But it is back.

I do not know how to reset SMC. Help!

It is very annoying and worrisome (that it might damage MAC) to keep restarting the computer from the back button when this happens.....

Reset the SMC (system management controller) like this:

That sometimes helps, and it cannot hurt anything.

I have just had this problem and fixed it!...

Try taking the old batteries out then clean the two battery connecters inside the magic mouse with a damp cotton bud. Finally replace with two new batteries and there you go! 🙂

Thank you Greg Silvers. I had the same issue this morning and your cleaning solution worked. I use apple rechargable batteries and I was told the connection was low, but couldn't get a fresh pair to even get the mouse to light up green. Now it does.
