all of the sudden I can't swipe (go left, right, up and down) on remote app for my apple tv. I can tap, press menu, even type on youtube search but not swipe. I can see app on my Iphone is reacting to the touch when i try to swipe as it slightly changes the light, but no reaction on apple tv. All the softwear is up to date, i tried turning off and on everything, re-instaling the app but no avail... help!

Just unplug you apple tv from the electricity, leave for 5 min and then plug it back in. Worked for me. good luck!
I am having the exact same problem. Quit Remote app, restarted iPhone. Restarted the AppleTV. No change. The aluminum Apple Remote works just fine. The Remote app let's me click to select and hit Menu to go back, but will not swipe to go in any direction. Any help would be appreciated. Using an iPhone 4S and an AppleTV2.
I have done this and it goes back to messing up am I to just unplug every hour lol
