If I turn my phone off it asks to connect to itunes and have to set to factory settings
The last time I turned it off itunes said it will not connect and to take to an apple store. Any ideas before I have to do this.

Is the phone functioning normally otherwise? Turning it off generates a screen that says connct to iTunes? Then you say it says it will not connect to iTunes? Have you tried to jailbreak the phone? If so, then you have forfeited your chance for help here on the forum or from Apple.
I dont know what jailbraek means. I have a contract with three and it was supplied by them. I get a screen with a slider and then asks me to tick a box for English then UK and then goes to a screen with a plug and itunes on it. Nothing can be operated other than to go back and tick the came boxes or use with emergancy call. When I plug into my computer for I tunes a message says go to your nearest store.
Is this the first time you have activated the phone? It seems to me that you have not activated the phone yet, and it is trying to get you to do so. How long have you owned the phone and what were you doing when it started to act in this manner?
Owned it around 17 months and had this problem for around six months. I just dont turn it off and it works perfectly. To be honest I dont connect to the computer very often either.
Not sure, but this sounds indicitive of a jailbroken phone that has a tethered jailbreak.
What does that mean. I got it new from three with a monthly contract. It was upgraded when my last contract came too an end. It has never been tampered with and no reason to. I assume jailbreak alows it to work on networks other than it was set up on. This was new with three and never been used on anything else.
Alright, but I have never seen an error on iTunes or the phone that tells you to take it to the Apple Store.
ill take it into Bromley and let you know how I get on. I may have to get some proof from Three. I paid £150 on top to get an Iphone upgrade. I assume they would never send a phone out that was jailbroken by them. I have been with three at least 8 years and so hope I dont have any problems. I also have an Ipad with them.
They would not send you a jailbroken phone. I was just saying some of what you were describing was like a jailbroken phone. Are you sure that is the exact message you are receiving that says take to Apple store? Can you recheck that message and write it down exactly?
This is the message on the computer inside Itunes.
There is a problem with your iphone.
the iphone you connected may be damaged and cannot be activated for service we recommend you visit your nearest apple store for more information. To find your nearest apple store click here.
Okay, now we are getting somewhere. This is a hardware problem and yes, you will need to go to Apple. Nothing we can do here. Good luck.
Phew thanks I was getting worried I might get led away in handcuffs. I hope it wont be to expensive!! My wife wants this one when I upgrade in a month or so.
many thanks
