what do I need to use an excel spreadsheet on my iPhone ?

have a xls.file sent to me via gmail want to download to iphone and use the xls. spreadsheet on iphone ?

iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1.1

You can open/view the Excel spreadsheet received as an email attachment from within the received email without having to use anything. If you want to edit the spreadsheet and save the edit, you need an app such as Apple's Numbers app.

There are several apps that allow editing spreadsheets on the iPhone. Apple's own Numbers, Documents to Go, and QuickOffice for a start.
