update ipad on someone else's computer

My niece has an ipad 2 with ios 4.3.3. she doesnt have a computer. how can she update her ipad on my computer? we tried on my computer in my itunes. itunes identifies her ipad, but then suggests backing things up because they will be lost during the update. it also suggests doing the update on the computer/itunes the was originally used. But im not sure she ever did that. that is why she has ios 4 and not 5 or 6. How can we do this?

thank you

Each device is seen as an individual on the computer. She can safely update on your computer. The main concern will be that she will always need to use your computer for backups. If she were to use a different computer in the future, it would delete what ever is on the iPad in order to sync with a new iTunes library. As noted, she will need to backup first then update. So, I guess you will need to think about this some more before you proceed.
