How do I turn off my iPod classic

All you should have to do is hold the Play/Pause button until the iPod's display goes off. Then activate the hold switch to prevent the iPod from waking up accidentally.

Try holding the "menu" and center key at the same time until the apple logo shows up. This should reset the iPod. If you wanted to keep it off I'm not sure how to do that, though the iPod should shut off if not used long anough.
