Can I text someone in a different country that also has an iPhone? Of course, without any additional cost.
I live in Germany and want to text my friends that have iPhones in the states. Is this possible?

Sending an SMS will incure international SMS rates. However, using iMessage, which requires a data connection and iOS device with iOS 5 or later will not cost, except for regular data rates. It can work internationally. Make sure you do not have Send as SMS marked because if either one of you drop a data connection, it will go as an SMS that will cost you.
