iBook won't download

My iBook is working fine, except 1 book I paid for and tried to download. It shows the book on my stand with the bar saying it will download and nothing happens. I have reloaded ibooks reset my I phone 4 s and still nothing. I even went to my email receipt and clicked the problem link and it won't open ibooks, hoedown I get a refund or at least get the freeking book downloaded.

Ps. When I search for the book in ibooks it shows as it is downloading.... Not downloaded and I cant even see the book on my list.

iPhone 4S, iOS 6

I was having the same issue today. I had bought a book on iBooks a few days ago, but it wouldn't download depsite my other purchases downloading and loading just fine. I wasn't able to pause it.

I tried, closing the application, turning off my iPad, turning it on, opening the application again, and nothing happened. I repeated the process, this time syncing it to my iTunes account on my computer, and still nothing.

I finally got it to work by: Completely closing the iBooks App first, signing out of iTunes on my iPad, and signing back in. This attempt didn't work without completely closing out of the app when I first tried. :-)

I am having this same problem. I have deleted the application a couple of times, and tried everything I can think of from both my iphone as well as itunes. No luck. I have also tried re-downloading the book (by deleting every copy from itunes and my iphone) and now I seem to have 3 copies of the book showing in my itunes window, but still the book is in a perpetual state of "downloading" on my iphone.

Hello Community, I have a similar issue. I have two ibooks in a permanent state of Downloading. I cannont delete the book icons from ibook as ibook does not rocognise it as being there. If I highlight it, it does not register. How do I get rid of the icons in this permanent state of download. It cannot register to the itunes store, but I still can down load other Apps from the Apps store.

Nope, sorry did not work for me. IOS 6.01 on an iPhone 4 32GB, with latest version of iBooks. iTunes shows TWO downloading bars one over the other. Bookshelf mode shows an empty download bar on the book.

Opening iBooks with the listing, rather than the Bookshelf shows the book download as paused. Hitting the Pause button makes it react, but it stays stuck on Paused.

Signing in and out does not affect it. Resetting the iPhone does not affect it. Restarting the iPhone does not affect it. Delete in the Edit mode does not work at all as the circle select targets do not come up at all, and in list mode the Delete button is disabled.

Started since IOS 6. Had the problem before, but i had to delete the book from the computer list, force a sync. Reset the phone, redownload the book to the computer, then sync again. This is really bloody annoying.

I was just having the same issue. I purchased a book on my ipad mini and wanted to continue reading it on my iphone 5 but the book was stuck. There was an image of the book but the download bar wouldn't make any progress. I did what someone mentioned above, signing in and out of iTunes but it didn't work. What worked for me was signing out of iTunes, then deleting the iBook app. I then shut down my phone and turned it back on. I then downloaded the ibooks app again... Note, I did not sign back into iTunes yet. When I downloaded the app it had me sign in and then asked me if I wanted to sync my purchases. I chose NO. Then I went to my purchases manually on the iBook app and selected the book I wanted to download and it finally downloaded!

I have the same problem, with iOS 7 and mavericks 10.9.4 on the mac. The problem is, I do not have the possibility now to sync my ibooks between itunes and my iPad, since the books are now catered by the ibooks app. I have two updates of ibooks stuck on my iPad, and I cannot stop the "download", nor refresh it, nor delete the ibooks. I have disconnected my iTunes account without success.

Another cloud failure from Apple, IMHO.

If an iBook works about the same as a desktop iMac, I found the solution to this AND the fact that the App Store wasn't loading in its app. Find your Utilities folder and the Disk Utility app. Perform the "Repair Permissions" and restart. Not only did two stuck books finally download in iBooks, but my App Store finally loaded it's blank page with content.

Adding one more thing for those unaware: An iBook notebook computer is a laptop. iBooks and the iBooks book store are different.
