Q: Keynote for iPad - How to prevent user from exiting the slideshow?

Hello.

On the mac version of Keynote there is an option to prevent the user from exiting the slideshow by typing the session login/password.

Why is this functionality not implemented for the iPad (using a 4 digit pin code for instance)???

It is obvious that, using an iPad with such a great presentation tool as Keynote, it will inevitably be used  in a Kiosk Mode sooner or later.

So currently with Keynote 1.6.2 for iPad, your presentation is one pinch (or one spread or even one 3 fingers tap) away from being potentially ruined or destroyed by a user (even if he/she is not malevolent) because the slideshow can not be password locked. Once inside keynote, anything can be done to the presentation image rotation, suppression, resizing you name it.

Anyone with a solution?

That is a shame that I should end up having to code the same keynote interaction in HTML and then use a Kiosk Software to play it.

Look at the possibilities offered by Kiosk Pro for instance and please get inspired.

Don't get me wrong, I love keynote and think this is a really amazing productivity tool, but sometimes it definitelly lack some basic functionalities.

    Hello There.

Keynote 1.7.1 for iOS is out and still no password protection to prevent the user to monkey with the presentation.

Anyone with a solution or a trick?

What is the kiosk solution used in the Apple Store 2.0? Is it a Keynote based application?

Yes!!! I need this functionality too. We are using the iPad for patient education in the clinic. I have tried the "Guided Access" mode in accessibility, which can lock the user into the Keynote presentation, but while we were testing we had several patients pop out of the presentation via an accidental pinch. Once disoriented, they then start swiping wildly all over the image and text elements on the screen, which are saved for the next user! eptable.

This is unacceptable. We aren't the only three users trying to get Keynote to function as a Kiosk.

In our app, we need all of the functionality that Keynote offers.. such as voiceover and video, so a PDF will never do. Kiosk Pro is out for us.

I have a solution that works perfectly and is already installed on ipad.

Look under accessibility settings for 'guided access'. This lets you lock the ipad to a single app, and a pin to exit. You can also block parts of the screen from being functional, so can very easily stop someone from exiting a keynote presentation or something else, or from entering their own web addresses if you pick it to safari.

Very handy indeed and built right in.

Hi there, I work for a museum and have encountered the same problem. I see that your question is from a few years ago. Did you ever find a solution? The 'Guided Access Mode' idea that someone suggested doesn't work for me, since my presentation is full of buttons in various locations.
