How to remove badge from Settings App - iPhone 4

I visited my parents over the weekend and immediately noticed that the Settings app on their iPhone 4 has a badge with a number 1 on it. In all the years I've used iOS devises I have never had a badge on the Settings app. It turns out that the badge is a notification for the iOS6 update. Luckily I do not have this badge on my 4S or iPad 2. I gave the 4 to my parents about a month ago so it runs the same settings as my 4S and is synced to the same PC. Both phones and the iPad is on 5.1.1.

Is there a way to get rid of the badge on the Settings app? I will not be upgrading the 4 to iOS6 and don't want to have a badge on the Settings app for the rest of the life of the phone.

Please help.

Thanks

Daniel

No. The badge is to indicate available update.

I am VERY cautious about software updates and have therefore not updated any of my devices. I might, and I stress, might update the 4S to get Do-not-disturb, but most likely only when .01 or .1 comes out. The iPad will most propably stay on 5.1.1 as there are no real benefits for it in iOS6 over iOS5 (for the functions I use). I believe that if something is working properbly, why rock the boat?

As mentioned I gave the iPhone 4 to my parents. They are both in their 70's and only use it to make calls and send SMS messages. iOS6 will have no benefit for them and I'm not risking a 4 in perfect working order with a software upate that can cause WiFi issues, FaceTime issues and the usual battery drain. The 4 is working perfectly for them. No need to take the risk.

Hope this helps.
