Q: Aggregate device

I am trying to create an aggregate device (I have a Mac OSX10.5.8) but when I try to select the devices to include in my aggregate device, none of the boxes for the devices can be checked. Any idea why this might be the case?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.8)
