USB key not present on desktop and on finder sidebar...

Hi all,

after the Montain Lion upgrade (10.8.2) on MacBook Pro retina I'm not able to use USB key and externals HD.

They are not present on the desktop and on the finder sidebar.

Also the input devices (mouse and keyboard) responds late if I don't use them for some time (10/15 sec)...

I don't want to make a clean installation...

Any suggestions?

Thank you very much!

Oz

Does your USB key have a light on it? Does that light turn on when it's plugged in? If not then there's probably a problem with power getting from the computer to the USB key.

I'm assuming your mouse and keyboard connect via the USB ports, not wirelessly.

Does the USB key not work in any USB port? Do the mouse and keyboard work fine once you start using them?

In Finder Preferences, Check the box in General to show HD on Desktop and in Sidebar, select External Disks.

That will reset the display options to show them all.

If that doesn't help, I'm not sure what is wrong. However, you normally don't need to do a clean install. You can reinstall right over the top of what is there and that may fix what is wrong.
