ical sync

I have followed all the steps to set up my calendar on my mac and on my iphone with iCloud but I can't get ical on my mac to show all my appointments. I use google calendar for work and have this linked as the default calendar on my iphone but it won't show via icloud on my mac? Can anyone help?
