My home wifi isn't working on my phone

All of a sudden, my home wifi broadband isn't working on my iPhone 4. Was working ok this morning. However, the fault must be with the phone as its ok on my iPad. I have switched off phone and switched back on to no avail. I have also said forget this network, and tries to re-connect, but again, it just won't let me.

Help!!!

iPhone 4, iOS 5.0.1

Reboot the ROUTER by turning it off or unplugging it from power for a few seconds.

I know - you think it's the phone because all of your other devices work. What has happened is the service in the router that assigns IP addresses (the DHCP daemon) has quit. So any device that already has an IP address will keep working, but the iPhone, which disconnects regularly, needs a new IP address periodically. As the router is incapable of providing a new IP address it appears that the iPhone is broken. Rebooting the router restarts the DHCP daemon.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know that. Think I (kind of) understand it now. Haha. At least I know what to do if it happens again.

Although I've had an iPhone of one kind or another for 3 years now- how come its not happened before?

Sorry- just curious. Guessing it could be as I've coincidentally switched off my router at the right time?! Do not feel under any obligation to reply...you have done more than enough.

Thanks again Lawrence.
