How do you control alignment in iPhoto email text?

I sent an email from iPhoto, which looked fine in the preview, but when I looked at the Sent email all of the text was center-aligned.

I tried to send the email again. Everything looked left-justified, and clicking on the text alignment button, it was set on left-justified, but again when I looked at the eventual Sent email, all the text was centre justified. How do you control the alignment?

Oddity: when I check in gmail's Sent box (MacOS mail linked to mail account) the text is center-aligned. But when I look at the same email though MacOS Mail, the text is left-justified???
