My Macbook Pro does not boot

I did a software update and using CMD + V I see where it stops... it looks like some posix_spawn(usr/sbin/mDNSresponder) is missing

Importer Start failed for 89 (kr: some number (ipc/send) invalid destination port)

Tries twice

then keeps trying and goes through other files

Systems/library/privateframeworks/mobiledevice.framework/versions/A/resources/us bmuxd

It keeps on giving all these import errors with wrong ports

Unfortunately, I lost my original Apple CD... long story. Am i completly screwed? Is there a solution. I tried to boot in safe mode... but nothing.

Mac OS X (10.5.4)

Yikes, sounds like you are up a creek without a paddle.

Does this Mac have Firewire? Do you have another Mac with Firewire around?
