My Mac finds my Canon scanner but not printer

I have a new Mac, OS X 10.8.2 with all recent software updates. My Canon MP560 was working just fine two days ago, now all of a sudden it can't access my network. Tried reinstalling the printer driver software, deleteing old printer, resetting router, etc... now trying to find my printer in my Sys Prefs Print/Scan options and its only seeing the Canon Scanner option... why cant it see my printer too?

PowerMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

The printer component uses a different protocol to the scanner component to advertise the printer on the network. This protocol is included with the printer driver and is called canonijnetwork. With the printer driver installed the printer will appear in the Default Add Printer browser, although it can take several more seconds to appear compared to the instant appearance of the scanner which uses Bonjour. If after several seconds you don't see the MP560 showing canonijnetwork in the Kind column, then install this latest driver from Canon and try to add the printer again.
