Ipod nano 5th gen won't work?

Okay so yes yes ive tried to do the turn the hold button on and off doesnt work.

I have only had my ipod for a few months no water damage or anything.

Ive tried doing the hold the menu and select button for at least 10 seconds , ive tried holding them for a minute.

It wont show up in itunes its on the latest itunes version and it wont show up on my computer.

Ive tried holding down the menu and select button while itunes was on it said waiting for ipod sometimes it says im not on latest or error 1601.

Whenever its hooked up to my computer it blinks the apple logo for like 10 seconds turns off and does this continuously.

Any help ?

Its not the cable i have tried with various ones and usb ports.

That's a pretty good indication that the battery is shot and in need of replacement.

You can choose to go one of 3 routes in this situation.

1. Send it to Apple for a battery replacement. See here for pricing:http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/

2. Send it to a third party service center. This will be a bit cheaper than the Apple route, but you'll have to do some research on which place to send it to. A Google search for "iPod battery replacement" should give you a number of results to work with.

3. Purchase a replacement battery online and use the appropriate guide over athttp://www.ifixit.com/ to walk you through the procedure of swapping out the battery. I would not recommend this route unless you consider yourself handy with repairing small electronics.
