Q: Aperture 3.4.1 issues - incl. doesn't work with Topaz

I have recently returned from holiday and auto-updated Aperture to 3.4.1.

There were some minor problems.  My plug-ins all wanted their serial numbers entered, but that was easy.

However, I also use Topaz labs software as an external editor (and also a plug-in).  The program is called photoFXlab.  Although I have set it up in Preferences -> Export and pointed Aperture to the program, when I try to use it the photograph I am working with doesn't come across to photoFXlab.

Under Preferences -> Export I have set the file format to be TIFF (16 bit) at 300 dpi, but it appears that Aperture is not creating this file.

I'd be grateful for suggestions on how to fix this.

Thanks!

Yes, hopefully they'll be a fix soon. At least it's a known issue.

As Leonie suggests if you post back here other users in the future will know there's a fix.

    All the best

Might be a bit late at this point, but I wonder if this is a sandbox issue. Does photoFXLab work when it's double-clicked upon? It may need to be enabled to run in Gatekeeper. Quit Aperture if it's open, then right-click on the photoFX application and launch it with "Open". From there you can enable it to be opened, then quit and see if it'll run in Aperture.

    Thanks, ISO.

I tried what you said.  I didn't see an option to "enable it to be opened".  It just opened.

No difference in the Aperture behaviour.  When I try to use PhotoFXLab, I get the message that Aperture is preparing the photo (presumably converting it to TIFF), photoFXLab opens and then the normal photoFXLab screen but blank where the photo should be.

Weird, not sure if it is a sandboxing issue, then. Usually, if it is a sandboxing/Gatekeeper issue, the plug-in won't open at all.
