I was having a conversation with my wife that I had initiated from my desktop, in iMessage to her phone. I then left my computer and wanted to continue those messages on my phone, but it kept messaging to my desktop. I also tried quitting iMessage, but it started back up again the next time she texted me.

Is there a way to tell iMessage that you want to continue your conversation on your phone, or even iPad?

thanks-dave

    Hi,

Your iPhone should have the Apple ID that the Messages app on the Mac is using.

The Messages app (iMessages is a function not the name) should, in OS X 10.8.2 (Messages version 7.0.1), show you the iPhone number as a option to "Call" from  (bottom drop down).

The iPhone (and any other iOS device should then Sync the chats that happen on the Mac.

From there the iPhone should be able to pick up the conversation.

Your listed specs are so out of date I don't know if you are on OS X 10.8.1 (syncing is only Apple ID) or the latest version.

I spoke to apple support today. It was solved by restarting my phone and holding down start button and home button.

    thanks
