DNS, Multiple Host Problem

Hi

It is a week I am dying to setup my DNS Records but I failed, please help!

Here is the scenario:

let's say we register example.com with one regitrar and right now www.example.com is up and working fine and it is hosted by a web hosting company. also mail.example.com as well

My mac server: 192.168.102.2 Host name: private.example.com

My linux server 1 192.168.102.11 sd01.example.com

My linux server 2 192.168.102.12 sd02.example.com

To create DNS records:

If I create zone "private.example.com" and then a machine record for 192.168.102.2, it works fine but I understood to add machine records for sd01.example.com and sd02.example.com I need to make this zone "example.com"

The problem is when I create zone "example.com" to put "private, sd01, sd02" records in this zone it will not work and my email service will stop to work

if I try to make different zone lie "sd01.example.com" and "sd02.example.com" my email service will stop to work again!

Does anybody know how should I configure my DNS server records to avoid any problem?

Thanks in Advance

Just make a zone record for example.com and make the following records in that zone:

private --> 192.168.102.2

sd01 --> 192.168.102.11

sd02 --> 192.168.102.12

mail --> 192.168.102.2 (if that is your internal Mail server's ip)

Now the important part is to use the ip address of the server where you make those records, the primary DNS server for your network. You can set up forwarding in the server app's DNS addresses to other servers like google's 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for zones for which it is not authoritative.

Mail from the outside world works, right?
