SKIP "Set Up Your iPad"?

I originally set it up without using iTunes. I'd been backing up using iCloud. Now I want to back it up through iTunes instead.

BUT when I plug it in, I only get two options:

• Set up as a new iPad

• Restore from the backup of: ________

I need to skip this step, as I don't want to erase everything and I don't have a local backup to restore it from. Right clicking from the Devices menu on the left only gives me the option to eject or restore from backup.

To be clear, I don't want to sync when I plug it in. I just want the option to back up.
