Being new to working with Mac, I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to set my Mac Book Pro wirelessly to the Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark ll? My husband had gotten this printer and the sales person said that it can be set up wirelessly to my Mac Book Pro

Being new to working with a Mac, I was wondering if anyone can tell me step, by step on how to set up my Mac Book Pro(Mid 2012) wirelessly to a Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark ll that my husband had gotten me? Sales person told him that it's compatiable to my Mac Book Pro, Mtn Lion, but I do not see it and I don't see how to do it wirelessly. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks ;o)

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8)

Also along with Barry's info, the printer should have come with the Canon driver CD for Mac. You may want to install those drivers. Usually during that process, it will setup your printer to connect to WiFi and you are asked to select a printer. As long as you have a router that provides WiFi, you should see your printer.

Thanks also Keg55 for response. I did use the Mac CD and it only went so far, did download from canon the drivers per Canon and it still will only go to the point of Restart, it's then have the another screen pop up and nothing happens. I did what Canon recommended. Remove the download and retry, same thing. Being not very witty, not sure what to do. I have it hooked up to two other wireless Canons Pixmas, may that be the problem that it cannot completely finish the process? Again I hop that Barry and you don't get irritated with me. Thanks for the advice and help~

I do have a WiFi router - nothing plugged into my Mac or the IPad 2, or either Acer Laptops the family uses. But the only way I have printed with the Pro9000 Mark ll using my Mac(strictly for the Mac) is by using the USB 2.0 cable that we had to buy. Maybe I should just stick to keeping it hooked to the USB cable instead of trying to go wireless with this particular printer, but I hate to have to sit where I would have to be working with my pictures. Guess that's just the way things go sometimes. Sorry about the complaining. I apologize.

Hello:

There is nothing wrong with asking questions. There are no dumb questions....answers, yes, but not questions. 😉

If you set up your wi-fi router to establish a network, then both your printer and MacBook Pro will connect wirelessly. *** I do not know what kind of router you possess, I don't want to suggest things that might not be relevant.

P.S. No need to apologize! Most of the people here (none of us are Apple employees) enjoy trying to help others. 😀

Thanks Barry, like your statement regarding no dumb questions 🙂 I just feel like I'm wasting knowledged peoples time by asking for help on something that should be simple but complicated to me.😟 The type of router we have is a Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router N900 Media Stream, EA4500 I just figured it was all set seem the other 2 wireless printers are running thru the router, but thought that would be alright with this particular printer too, but so far no go. Thanks for making me a little more relax in asking questions.😀

Hello:

I have been doing this a long time, but I remember when I had far more questions than answers. I think you will find that this is one of the best on-line venues anywhere...and we are all volunteers.

I am a long way from a networking person. Why not have your spouse go back to the store and ask for help in getting the printer he just bought set up on your wireless network? I could ramble around, but since I do not have that kind of router or printer, I might be wasting your time.
